Schaeffler Automotive Aftermarket and HSY Combine for Intensive Seminar Training Series

Schaeffler Australia recently combined with European parts specialist HSY Autoparts to conduct an intensive training program for the trade throughout Australia.

With venues in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth the training program lead by the Schaeffler Australian team of National Sales Manager Dan Fouracres, Product Manager Julian Ilic and Marketing and Communications Manager Theresa Loeb, covered topics of both a general background on Schaeffler worldwide plus technical aspects of the advanced innovative products fitted as original equipment to the world’s leading motor vehicles.

Trade attendees were introduced to areas such as mild hybrid electric power by belt, powerful e-motor (alternator with additional inverter) connected to the crankshaft, hydraulic and mechanical tensioners, decoupling tensioners, pulley de-couplers and switchable pulley de-couplers plus overrunning alternator pulleys (OAP) along with the reasons for these innovative developments.

The special INA/Schaeffler OAP/OAD toolbox designed to dismount all known OAP’s and OAD’s from alternator shafts was introduced as an essential service tool when changing these. Various scenarios were also demonstrated during the evening sessions on what can go wrong when incorrect settings, procedures and tools are used.

Schaeffler brands were demonstrated as meeting the requirements and demands with FEAD (Front End Accessory Drive) complexity on V-belts, mechanical tensioners, solid alternator pulleys and solid crank shaft pulleys, all resulting in increased drive torques and higher inertias on today’s modern vehicles.

A key element in the training seminars was an introduction to Schaeffler’s new service brand - REPXPERT which offers garages expert service advice and repair solutions across its range of products. Part of Schaeffler’s REPXPERT service is its unique online portal which provides vehicle-specific installation guidelines, technical data, access to technical manuals, an entire Tec-Doc based online catalogue and much more.

The REPXPERT portal was demonstrated as a clearly structured program with an intuitive navigation menu coupled with intelligent search processes and links that directs users to the information required in a fast and targeted way, providing repair solutions for the aftermarket.

HSY Autoparts customers benefited from the availability of Schaeffler technical expertise which was followed with questions and answers from the floor. A hands-on competition to test the technical skills of participants was conducted at the end of the presentation.
