The competitiveness and position of the Schaeffler Group in the world market is decisively determined by the quality of its products. Faultless quality and reliability of the products and services purchased from suppliers have a corresponding influence on the highly technical production facilities and on the quality of products. The quality requirements of the Schaeffler Group to suppliers and sub-suppliers (customer specific requirements) have been aggregated hereinafter on the basis of international quality standards.
General rules governing use between business partners
A fundamental normative requirement is the monitoring of suppliers in respect of their performance. This applies to suppliers of products, processes and services which are relevant to production or to the end product and is therefore applicable to Schaeffler suppliers. This is an essential part of the continuous improvement process and participation herein is required even without a contractual agreement, as a feature of the cooperation.
Quality requirements governing suppliers of products which affect the end product and of production-related processes and services
The conclusion of this quality assurance agreement is necessary as the basis for cooperation and for imparting customer-specific requirements which must generally be observed. Applicable procedures have been defined on the basis of international quality standards and thus also in accordance with the current level of technical expertise.
Details on individual methods, the extent of their application and any individual templates as applicable, will be regulated by means of Schaeffler standards in future. Since the current level of technical expertise described therein may change, we will make adjustments to this as necessary. For new assignments or projects, we expect the latest standards to be applied in all cases (unless another individual agreement has been explicitly reached), without renewal of the above-mentioned quality assurance agreement.
Furthermore, specific contract volumes shall also apply to special assignment scopes (e.g. embedded software).
